Danny grew up in South Central Kentucky playing everything from Bluegrass to Country to Classical to Rock and Roll. After playing in assorted bands in Kentucky, Danny made his way to Texas in 1980. Danny did a couple years touring with Jerry Jeff Walker as his road manager in the mid 1980’s. He began writing and playing his own music as a part of the Austin music scene and by the early 1990s was performing his music on a regular basis.
Danny has performed around the country on shows with Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, John McCutcheon, Chris Smither, Bruce Robison, Nina Gerber, Kelly Willis, Chris Wall, Greg Trooper, The Dixie Chicks, and many others.
Danny’s 1st original work was released in April 2001 titled: Danny Britt and Red Dawg - Texas Stuff. Long time touring musician and producer Marvin Dykhuis produced this recording.
Red Dawg Music released Danny’s second original work in Feb. 2003. This CD is titled Danny Britt - The Other Side. It is co-produced by long time touring musician Chip Dolan and Danny. Several great Austin Based Artists join Danny & Chip on this recording. Some of them include Kelly Willis, Bruce Robison, Christine Albert, Chris Gage, Marvin Dykhuis, and more. This work received rave reviews as well.
Red Dawg Music released Danny Britt - Walk This Road, produced by Marvin Dykhuis & Danny, in 2007. 2012 brought another release from Red Dawg Music – Two Guys Two Guitars, an acoustic duo recording by Danny Britt & Marvin Dykhuis.
Danny’s works have been noted in Performing Songwriter Magazine and reviewed in Sing Out Magazine, Roots Town Magazine and others in the USA and around the world.
On November 29, 2001 the Austin City Council and Austin Mayor Gus Garcia proclaimed that day Danny Britt Day for his continued efforts to maintain Austin, Texas as the Live Music Capital of the World.
Chip Dolan - Singer Songwriter, Musician
I grew up in Northern New Jersey, playing keyboards for the "Blue Emerald Band" until I hitchhiked to Austin, TX in September of 1982, joining a southern rock band "Crystal Image" and "Hotcakes", a party-dance band. By 1991, I had sold my soul to the piano bar Gods, then in 1994 I joined Tish Hinojosa for her Destiny's Gate tour where I met Marvin Dykhuis and immediately began stealing his licks... a habit I continue to this day.
Over the next 20 years I"ve been a sideman with Austin based songwriters.. including but not limited to: Bruce and Charlie Robison, Kelly Willis, Radney Foster, Jimmy Lafave, Shelley King, Slaid Cleaves, Sara HIckman....well.you get the gist.
A brief stint with Raul Malo and the Mavericks got me started on the path to Grouchy Like Riley with Marvin and Danny Britt. In 2006 I put out "Right Now" my solo recording.
I'm currently touring with Sam Baker, Ronny Cox, and Geg Trooper and always with The Grouchy Guys...working on my attitude.
Marvin Dykhus - Singer Songwriter, Musician, Producer
Marvin Dykhuis is originally from Racine Wisconsin. There he started his musical career playing clubs and colleges throughout the midwest with blues bands. Marvin and The Dogs “Live At Georges” and Folk groups Paffrath and Dykhuis (Everybody Knows, Listen).
In 1986 he relocated to Austin, Texas and soon became a part of the rich music scene. In 1988 he began working with Singer/Songwriter Tish Hinojosa and has been her right hand man, playing on all of her recordings as well as producing and writing with her.
Marvin spent 8 years playing Wednesday night’s "Sitting and Singing for Supper" with the Threadgill Troubadours (Co-fronting the band) along side the late Champ Hood. He has been around the Globe with Ms. Hinojosa and other Texas based groups playing guitars, mandolins, banjos, etc.
Marvin has produced and played and sang on many records for Texas Singer/songwriters and groups offering a unique sound to their music. His chomeleanesque aproach is always welcome in the studio doing movie soundtracks or performing live. From Blues to Bluegrass He’s there with an interesting twist.
