Mike Addington Trio
The Mike Addington Trio will play a fine acoustic concert on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015, at 7:00 PM.
A small town in the Southern Rockies is hardly where you would expect to find a talent like Mike Addington, but it's Red River, New Mexico he calls home. A singer/songwriter and guitarist, Mike plied his trade in the Los Angelos area for many years before making Red River home.
Best described as Americana, Country Folk with a Honky-Tonk edge; Mike Addington is a featured artist in “Nine Nights a Week”, New Mexico Magazine, August 2014. Journalist Tim Kellar hailed Mike as “the current standard bearer of a long running (musical) tradition.” Mike is proud to be a part of the ongoing musical heritage of Red River which started with several “outlaw” Austin area musicians in the ‘70s icluding Ray Wylie Hubbard, Michael Martin Murphy, B.W. Stevens & Jerry Jeff Walker.
The New Mexico Tourism Department requested Mike for Red River’s radio and television campaign. Mike performs the New Mexico True Campaign ballad, “Feels Like Home”,
A veteran of honky-tonks, nightclubs, concert halls, and festivals, Mike has opened for acts including Asleep at the Wheel, Leon Russell, Cross Canadian Ragweed and shared the stage with greats Gary P. Nunn, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Josh Grider, Kevin Welsh, Susan Gibson & Walt Wilkins.
Listening to Mike's music, you know this man has paid his dues and is a graduate of “Honky-Tonk U”. He's equally adept with both acoustic and electric guitar, but it's his ability to wrench your gut with finely penned lyrics and music that speak to our universally shared emotions. This is the real deal, so sit back, listen and enjoy. Prepare for your feet to move and your heart to melt, Mike’s a pickin’.
