Michelle Stewart will play a fine acoustic concert on Wednesday, June 5th, at 7:00 PM.
Texas native, Michelle Stewart, is the newest arrival to the Austin music scene.
After 7 inspiring years of traveling and living in Southeast Asia and Spain as a
professional performer, Michelle is back in the U.S., armed with her long-awaited
debut album, Sands of Time.
Michelle's refreshingly soulful country rock tunes, which she refers to as "gypsy blues,"
strike your ears as both new and familiar, making hers a unique brand of authentic
roots music, and in today's scene, perfectly unclassifiable. Driven by this intimately
magnetic voice, live audiences are taken into the soul of this must-see live performer.
On November 6, 2010, Michelle made her debut solo performance to a full house at the
Hanoi Cinematheque theater in Vietnam's capital. She has been playing professionally
and single-handedly packing houses big and small, 5-star hotels, fashion shows,
embassies and top events of all sorts in the Asian music scene since. She was most
recently invited to perform for Democrats Abroad, the overseas branch of the U.S.
Democratic Party, for Barack Obama's Presidential Inauguration in Vietnam's capital
on January 2013.
Sands of Time, which Michelle wrote, recorded, and performed all songs and instruments
for, was created almost entirely in a one-room handmade bamboo bungalow in Thailand's
northern mountainside. The result is a powerfully arranged and soulful experience,
taking you from the depths and peaks of this singer's magnetic voice. Michelle was
sponsored to complete the album's mixing and mastering at Bangkok's prestigious
The album draws from the folk, country, rock and blues influences that reflect her
diverse ethnic background, and brings them all together as something both new and familiar.
Michelle's songwriting has been featured on major cable and public television networks,
reaching a global audience in 5 continents.
Instrumentation is primarily voice, guitar, and mandolin, though also a trained
clarinetist, Michelle acted as multi-instrumentalist on Sands of Time, combining both
real and virtual instruments to achieve her unique sound.
Folk-Americana raconteur and Vietnam troubadour Michelle Stewart has just finished making her album "Sands of Time".... Michelle has been warming our hearts in Hanoi for more than 2 years, playing sold-out shows all over the city. The vibrations coming from her guitar are mature, confident, infectious. Her lyrics are positive and inspired by nature, coming together and the soul.
We're proud to be taking Michelle from the top of the metaphorical musical shelf, uncorking the mature blend of lyrical swirls and foot-tapping guitar flavours.
The applause at her gigs are always long and loud. One more time. Come and see her. Take a memory of Hanoi home with you that will last forever.
