Martha Gallagher...Wild Harp & Winged Heart

"If Bette Midler and Oprah Winfrey had a love child, she would be Martha Gallagher!"
-- Lisa Lynne, Windham Hill recording artist, composer

Singer/songwriter Martha Gallagher defies musical pigeon-holes in more ways than one. She shines with a breadth and depth rarely heard from one artist, with original songs that are honest and engaging. Her music glides from wailing blues to Latin grooves to Classical inspirations, from swingin' Jazz to vibrant contemporary Folk and beyond. With a chameleon-like voice that soars, from raw and bluesy to achingly tender, she sings of down-to-earth life; humorous, touching, inspiring.

"Remember the name Martha Gallagher. She has a distinctive talent; when she returns it will be to a standing room only audience."
-- Coastal Breeze News, FL

And there’s a twist; her instrument of choice is not the expected guitar or piano, it’s the harp.

“Martha plays the harp with a joie de vivre; with a sense of joy and energy rarely seen with this instrument!"
-- Wanda Fischer, WAMC Northeast Public Radio

Martha’s performances go “beyond concert”, drawing on her talents not only as a musicians, but as a natural-born storyteller, poet and actress. She spontaneously weaves together music, stories, improv and inspiration, creating a one-woman show that is a journey for all.

“Martha's power of performance, diversity of music, and obvious joy in what she shares with the audience is tangible; wonderful!”
-- S.Craig, Caffe Lena’s, Saratoga Springs, NY

For over thirty years Martha has been sharing her distinctive and richly varied performances with enthusiastic audiences.

“Martha...Electrifying! Original! Bravura!”
-- B.Brinkley, Fan, patron

She has a diverse musical background; from classical flautist in a symphony orchestra to lead singer in rock and jazz/blues bands.

“Martha Gallagher is Janis Joplin-Joan Baez-Jean Redpath all rolled into one! She's a treasure; her music lifts up the spirit and reminds us why we're here."
-- Todd Moe, North Country Public Radio

Martha has performed with such luminaries as six-time Grammy winners, The Chieftains. Her extensive solo tours have taken her around the US and Canada, with several tours sponsored by The National Endowment for the Arts. Martha and her music have been featured on numerous television and radio programs; appearances include BBC Television, Northeast Public Radio, North Country Public Radio and Good Morning Arizona.

“She’s a grand harper!"

Her audiences are mature, intelligent, with a sense of humor and life experience; they love music, poetry, storytelling and theatre. Audiences who are unfamiliar with her original music find it excitingly new while at the same time delightfully comfortable. Audiences who are familiar with her know that they are always in for a treat at her performances.

“I have to tell you that if you have the opportunity to see or present Martha Gallagher in concert - DO IT! She is a delight.
