Suzy & Eric Thompson will play a fine acoustic concert on Monday, October 29th, at 7:00 PM.
Suzy and Eric Thompson (from Berkeley, California) are virtuoso performers of American "true vine" roots music: classic blues and jug band songs, old time Appalachian ballads and breakdowns, bluegrass hot licks, and Louisiana Cajun dance music. Eric is a flatpicker whose guitar and mandolin playing is reknowned for its purity of tone, speed, and soulfulness. He leads Kleptograss, an all-star string band with Jody Stecher and Scott Nygaard. Suzy, a member of the Texas Sheiks (with Cindy Cashdollar, Johnny Nicholas and Bruce Hughes), is a powerful blues singer and an award-winning fiddler who apprenticed with older Louisiana Cajun musicians under an NEA Fellowship. She is the Artistic Director of Port Townsend’s “Festival of American Fiddle Tunes” and co-produced the recent documentary film on the New Lost City Ramblers, "Always Been a Rambler". Eric and Suzy were founding members of many influential roots music groups including the Black Mountain Boys, Any Old Time and the California Cajun Orchestra, and have worked with Maria Muldaur, David Grisman, Jim Kweskin and Geoff Muldaur, Darol Anger, Laurie Lewis & Tom Rozum, Dave Alvin, Ginny Hawker & Tracy Schwarz, Jerry Garcia
Doors open at 7:00 and the concert is 8:00 to 10:00.
