Ricky Stein will play a fine acoustic concert on Saturday, October 20th, at 7:00 PM.
Ricky Stein started playing music at Austin’s famed Hole in the Wall about 8 years ago. Weekly solo gigs led to the formation of a band, which led to more gigs at different clubs such as Antone’s, the Continental Club, and the Saxon Pub, and opening shows for acts such as Bob Schneider, Carolyn Wonderland, and Alejandro Escovedo.
In 2009, the young singer/songwriter released his debut self-produced album “Crazy Days”, which Margaret Moser of the Austin Chronicle described as “excellent right outta the gate.” He and his band hit the road, somehow surviving an independent tour up to NYC and back. Along the way, Stein wrote another handful of songs, which ended up being recorded and released the following year as the “In the Red” EP. Stein toured extensively across the United States as a solo act in support of the album. In December of 2011, in between semesters at the University of Texas, Stein wrote and recorded his third album, “Something in the Night”. The album earned praise from the Austin American-Statesman, the Dallas Morning News, and the Houston Chronicle, which described Stein as “a rising talent to watch.” Another nation-wide tour followed, as well as solo tours of the UK and Japan.
Doors open at 7:00 and the concert is 8:00 to 10:00.
