Regan Brown will play a fine acoustic concert on Sunday, July 15th, at 2:00 PM. William Wallace will play and opening set for Regan.
Regan invites other musicians to bring instruments and join a Song Circle After the Concert.
Regan Brown always was a late bloomer—she wrote her first song a few
years ago after accidentally winding up in Austin following a mid-life
crisis. She's thrilled to be releasing her first CD, Stranded, at the
Ham Jam House Concert Series. Recorded at Battle Bend Studios, Congress
House, and Regan's own living room over the last two years, the record
delivers rock-solid Americana/roots (with touches of blues and samba)
and her signature tune, Stranded Here in Oz.
This CD release party will feature a six-piece band including some of the finest acoustic players in Austin. (See below)
Regan got her first guitar—a $12 Sears Silvertone—in junior high,
and she's been a scribbler/writer from high school on. But it wasn't until
she moved to Austin in 1998 that her love of music and words converged and
a songwriter was born. Wednesday night songwriter circles at Cheatham
Street Warehouse and Austin Songwriters Group workshops helped her develop
her craft. Stranded Here in Oz won the 2006 Winfield New Songs Showcase in
2005 and Tell Me Te Amo won first place in the Latin music category of the
2001 ASG song contest.
