A special acoustic Uncle Walt's Band Tribute will be performed Sunday, June 12th, 2016, doors open at 6:00 PM, by some of the finest musicians in Austin. Warren and Marshall Hood have a direct, genetic, connection to UWB, Marshall and Rob Teter grew up together in Spartanburg, SC, the original home of UWB, and Nigel Frye has been playing with the others since they arrived from South Carolina.
Uncle Walt's Band was the finest: Walter Hyatt, vocals & rhythm guitar; DesChamps Hood, vocals, lead guitar, mandolin & violin; and David Ball, vocals & bass. Originally from Spartenburg, SC, they lived and played in Austin for almost 15 years in the '70s & '80s. All three were terrific writers and performers and they left us a giant chest of jewels!
This may be your last chance to hear those fine Uncle Walt's Band songs played without amplification, just as UWB played them at the old Congress Avenue Waterloo Icehouse! Don't miss this!
Warren Hood, vocals & violin / mandolin (DesChamp's son)
Marshall Hood, vocals & lead acoustic guitar (DesChamp's nephew)
Rob Teter, vocals & acoustic guitar (Spartanburg native)
Nigel Frye, acoustic bass (superb!)
Doors open at 6:00 and the concert is 7:00 to 9:00.
$25 suggested donation for the musicians.
Not mandatory, but Daren thinks these guys are worth a lot more!
...just bump in what you can.
